Diwali Message from the President ofShree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha Fiji
On behalf of Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha Fiji, it is my privilege to send my Deepawali greetings, warm regards and best wishes to all our advocates. Deepawali comes with a goodwill ‘message of enlightenment’ each year coupled with the festival of multi-colored lights, sweet discourses and plentiful edibles.
This commemorative festival is celebrated to rejoice happiness for numerous reasons. The most noteworthy of these, however, relates to the return of Lord Rama, a symbol of inherent goodness, and his disciples to Ayodhya after demolishing Ravan representing ‘evils’ of all kind. This rationale of replacing ‘evil’ with ‘goodness’ has become our ‘modus operandi’ that helps us to elicit the human values of truth, right conduct, love, peace and non-violence from within us, and to nurture the development of our moral excellence.
Through the cultivation of these human values in our festivals, poojas, sanskaars, the education programs and everyday life, we attempt to sustain goodness and co-exist peacefully. In removing darkness with light, deepawali conceptually sets the platform for ‘gyana yoga’ [learning to know], ‘karma yoga’ [learning to do], ‘sehna bhunaktu’ [learning to live together] and ‘atmanam ridhi’ [learning to be]. Deepawali, therefore, has an interesting and innovative idea of lifelong learning with particular focus on human values.
Taking this rationale of deepawali, our education wing is now preparing a handbook for education in human values and general matters for children, youths and adults. It will be Hindi language to promote the learning of Hindi which is the foundation stone for our culture, custom, tradition and religion.
We are also revisiting Sanatan Constitution basing its government and governance on the lessons derived from deepawali. We have also developed our new website and hope to disseminate the significance of deepawali that promotes human excellence. Our website address is sanatanfiji.com and you will find it very informative.
Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha sees Deepawali as setting the platform for learning and to bring out the goodness that is within us. Let the ‘lights of deepawali generate in us the principles of gyana yoga, karma yoga, sehna bhavatu and atmanam ridhi.
Greetings and best wishes to everyone
